A flexible space for future-ready teaching and learning
Andreas Christodoulides Lab is the Department of Education’s pedagogical hub, designed to support collaboration, creativity, and student agency across all modes of study. The furniture can be rearranged in minutes, the walls invite writing and display, and the room comfortably switches between a university seminar, a school-like classroom, or a makerspace for embodied learning activities. The lab frequently hosts visiting school groups, giving student teachers a realistic setting in which to rehearse practice.
Infrastructure
- 12 folding tables on castors and 25 stackable chairs
- Interactive display, projector, and instructor workstation
- Floor-to-ceiling magnetic whiteboard along the south wall
- Puppet and shadow-theatre wooden structure
- Built-in storage for 3D printers, digital tools, and teaching materials
- Two tall units, five low cabinets with adjustable shelves, and three cushioned bunks with internal storage
New maker technologies
Through EU funding secured via the ICSE Science Factory project, the lab now offers:
- 2 portable 3D printers (Bambu Lab A1 Mini)
- 1 Bambu Lab P1S Combo printer
- Shining 3D Einstar handheld 3D scanner
- xTool 55 W CO₂ laser cutter
These tools let pre-service and in-service educators explore rapid prototyping, design-thinking activities, and cross-curricular STEM projects, equipping them to create rich, hands-on learning experiences for the next generation.
