Project Description

This networking project explores the impact of the current financial crisis on the interconnected spheres of media representation, everyday life and popular responses in different parts of Europe, specifically: UK, Ireland, Bulgaria, Greece and Cyprus. Workshops will be organised in each. Central questions include: how do people live the crisis? How are media representations handling these often traumatic experiences? What resources are being utilised to produce innovative forms of social support or collective action? The project also raises questions about the process of mediation and translation of crisis across the languages and diverse political cultures of the EU.
