This lecture will introduce the principles and clinical applications of gait analysis in dogs, emphasising its role in evaluating locomotion, diagnosing musculoskeletal disorders, and improving rehabilitation outcomes. The session aims to demonstrate how understanding canine biomechanics can enhance veterinary care and support the welfare and performance of dogs in various settings.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr Danae Charalambous graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2014, and completed her MSc in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the same institution. She became a specialist of the European College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ECVSMR) in 2023, after completing her residency at the Veterinary University of Vienna. Her research focuses on ground reaction forces, center of pressure during physiotherapy exercises, and heelwork, with interests in small animal biomechanics and exercise physiology.
