University of Nicosia Ranks Among the Top 601-800 Universities in the World for Life Sciences
The University of Nicosia ranks among the top universities in the world in six different subject areas, in the THE WUR by Subject 2026
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026 confirm the University of Nicosia’s (UNIC) leadership in the field of Life Sciences, ranking among the Top 601-800 universities in the world, and 163rd in the European Union, in this subject area.
Commenting on the results of the THE WUR by Subject, the Dean of the School of Life and Health Sciences, Professor Kyriakos Felekkis noted: “UNIC’s inclusion among the world’s Top 601–800 universities for Life Sciences in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject 2026 is a strong vote of confidence in the quality and momentum of our work. It recognises the dedication of our faculty, researchers, and students. It inspires us to build even greater impact through innovation, collaboration, and excellence, improving health and lifespan in the years ahead”.
The Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine, Professor Zoe Polizopoulou, added:
“The recognition of the University of Nicosia in the field of Life Sciences also reflects the contribution of the School of Veterinary Medicine, which is developing modern study programmes and research activities aligned with the One Health philosophy. By linking animal, human, and environmental health, the School of Veterinary Medicine plays a substantive role in educating scientists of high academic and professional calibre, thereby further strengthening the University’s international presence and impact in the Life Sciences”.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) is possibly the most influential university classification system globally, drawing on five decades of expertise in the sector and millions of individual data points.
These subject rankings are the latest in a succession of distinctions bestowed on UNIC by Times Higher Education, which notably includes ranking the University among the Top 501-600 universities worldwide in its flagship World University Rankings for 2026.
