The University of Nicosia ranks among the top universities in the world in six different subject areas, in the THE WUR by Subject 2026

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2026 confirm the University of Nicosia’s (UNIC) continued leadership in Business and Economics, maintaining its position among the Top 176-200 universities in the world, and 38th in the European Union, in this subject area.

The Dean of UNIC’s School of Business, Professor Angelika Kokkinaki, noted: “The UNIC School of Business is honoured to be recognised by the THE World University Rankings by Subject as the leading institution in its field in Cyprus, Greece, and the broader region of South Eastern Europe. As an AACSB-accredited institution, our identity is grounded in a clear, mission-driven commitment to excellence, continuous improvement, and societal impact. Central to this mission is our focus on the twin transformation, namely, the integration of digital and sustainability transformation. We offer interdisciplinary, globally oriented programmes that equip students with critical thinking skills, ethical judgement, and technological fluency. Our faculty foster a dynamic learning environment while producing rigorous, high-impact research and maintaining strong engagement with industry and society. Through the alignment of these priorities, the UNIC School of Business continues to advance its academic standing, relevance, and positive social impact”.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) is possibly the most influential university classification system globally, drawing on five decades of expertise in the sector and millions of individual data points.

These subject rankings are the latest in a succession of distinctions bestowed on UNIC by Times Higher Education, which notably includes ranking the University among the Top 501-600 universities worldwide in its flagship World University Rankings for 2026.

It is worth noting that UNIC has also been ranked among the Top 151-200 universities in the world for Business Administration, in the 2025 ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS).
