University of Nicosia Explores AI Applications in Healthcare During Recent Webinar
The University of Nicosia’s MSc in Data Science – E-Learning/Distance Learning (Online) programme explored AI applications in healthcare during a webinar hosted on 15 July 2025.
The session provided participants with a comprehensive examination of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are applied to address critical challenges in the healthcare sector. It highlighted the transformative potential of deep learning algorithms and large language models in advancing diagnostics, treatment methodologies, and pharmaceutical research.
The webinar featured the presentation of Professor Ioannis Katakis, Programme Coordinator of the University of Nicosia’s MSc in Data Science programme. His presentation showcased three prominent research initiatives led by the department’s research group:
- AI for Neurological Disorders
- Adverse Drug Reaction Detection
- Multimodal Neuroimaging with AI
The presentation was followed by a discussion, offering participants the opportunity to discuss the implications and future direction of AI in healthcare.
