UNIC signs MoU with Aston University
The two universities’ Business Schools commit to enhanced academic cooperation over the next 5 years in the areas of programme collaboration, research and exchange
The University of Nicosia (UNIC) and Aston University of Aston Triangle have entered into an inclusive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the next 5 years, during which the parties will work towards establishing closer academic co-operation.
The MoU intends to promote the mutual interests of and to foster and develop the partnership between the two universities, in accordance with their individual mission and objectives, especially with respect to internationalisation.
More specifically, the Memorandum of Understanding will promote greater collaboration in the following essential areas of mutual concern:
- Develop a framework for programme collaboration and the transfer of academic credits;
- Exchange faculty members for teaching (by physical or virtual means);
- Engage in collaborative research and reciprocal visits by faculty members;
- Host short term academic programmes and study visits for students;
- Participate in seminars and academic meetings for faculty members;
- Undertake other mutually agreed activities as considered appropriate by the parties
The MoU between the two parties was signed by the Rector of the University of Nicosia, Professor Philippos Pouyioutas, and the Aston Deputy Vice Chancellor for Engagement, Professor Saskia Hansen.
In going forward, UNIC will be represented by Professor Despo Ktoridou, Head of the Department of Management & MIS at the School of Business of the University of Nicosia, whilst Aston University will be represented by Professor Nicholas Theodorakopoulos, Associate Dean of the International Aston Business School.
Commenting on the development, Professor Ktoridou indicated that the MoU is the starting point for a series of collaborative activities between the two Business Schools. “We are particularly pleased to be formalising our relationship with Aston Business School in this way, with a broad and mutually beneficial agenda in the works”.
On his part, Professor Theodorakopoulos likewise expressed his School’s enthusiasm for the partnership, in working towards enhanced academic cooperation over the next 5 years in the key areas of programme collaboration, research and exchange. “We are looking forward to developing our relationship with the University of Nicosia”, he concluded.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties will remain in effect until April 2025.
