UNIC Health and Municipality of Nicosia sign five-year MoU in Veterinary Education
UNIC Health and the Municipality of Nicosia have recently signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in the field of Veterinary Education. The partnership establishes a framework for collaboration in veterinary research and training, as well as practical learning opportunities for veterinary students.
Under the MoU, signed by the Mayor of Nicosia, Mr Charalambos Prountzos and the Executive Vice President of UNIC Health, Professor Andreas Charalambous, students enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) programme will gain access to the Municipality’s facilities for hands-on training.
In particular, as part of the agreement, students will undertake clinical placements and onsite training at the Municipality’s dog shelter, under the supervision of university faculty. Moreover, the MoU also provides for joint research initiatives between the two parties, as well as the organisation of joint seminars, lectures and conferences.
In statements, the Mayor of Nicosia, Mr Charalambos Prountzos said: ‘This collaboration strengthens the Municipality’s connection with the academic community, promotes scientific knowledge, and contributes to the protection and welfare of animals in our city’.
On his part, Prof Andreas Charalambous, Executive Vice President of UNIC Health said: ‘We are pleased to work with the Municipality of Nicosia to offer our veterinary students practical experience through training in the city’s dog shelter.
