UNIC and NRC mark Equine Clinic inauguration
The School of Veterinary Medicine and the Nicosia Race Club held the official inauguration ceremony of their renovated Equine Clinic on Monday 5 May. The facility, located at the Nicosia Race Club grounds, aims to serve both educational purposes and provide veterinary care for horses in Cyprus.
The clinic features modern surgical facilities and diagnostic equipment, with a dedicated team of four specialist veterinarians who also serve as academic staff. The renovation has equipped the facility with updated infrastructure to support both treatment and teaching functions.
At the opening ceremony, Professor Zoe Polyzopoulou, Associate Dean of the Veterinary School, outlined the clinic’s objectives. ‘This facility will provide our students with practical training opportunities whilst offering professional veterinary services’, she said. ‘The combination of teaching and clinical practice creates an ideal learning environment’.
Nicosia Race Club President, Mr Alexis Charalambides, highlighted the benefits of the collaboration. ‘This partnership between our organisations strengthens the available veterinary services for the equestrian community in Cyprus’, he stated.
The renovated facility includes surgical facilities, diagnostic equipment, teaching spaces, and student study areas. Operating under UNIC Veterinary School’s management, the clinic will focus on both educational purposes and providing veterinary services to the local equestrian community.
