Nicholas Nicoli is Professor of Communication and Associate Head of the Department of Communications at the University of Nicosia. He also serves as Coordinator of the Doctoral Programme in Media and Communication and is a member of the University of Nicosia Senate.

Nicholas holds a PhD in Sociology from City St. George’s, University of London. His research focuses on communication policy. He has conducted studies on organisations such as the BBC, CYBC and TripAdvisor, as well as on the digital economy sector, the EU’s Code of Practice on Disinformation, the Digital Markets Act (DMA), and the Digital Services Act (DSA). His work is committed to fostering a deliberative digital democratic landscape that prioritises the public interest. His current research explores platform power and its implications for news media.

Deeply engaged in the dissemination of knowledge and ideas, Nicholas has contributed to events such as Digital Agenda Cyprus, Green Agenda Cyprus, Startup Live, Startup Weekend, TEDx, and Young Lions Cyprus. He has also served as a science communicator across various European projects. Nicholas sits on the editorial boards of The Journal of Media Business Studies and The Journal of Digital Media & Policy, is a member of the European Media Management Association (EMMA) since 2011, the Cyprus Advertising Regulation Organisation, and is a co-founder of the Centre of Communication Studies and Research in Cyprus.
