GreenToC Partners Meet in Portugal to Advance Sustainability and Green Transformation in Higher Education

The GreenToC consortium held its Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) from 1516 January 2026 in Portugal, hosted by Instituto Politécnico de Santarém. The meeting brought together partners from across Europe to review progress and coordinate the next phases of the project, which aims to strengthen synergies between higher education institutions and the labour market in support of green transformation strategies.

Over the two-day meeting, partners engaged in structured discussions on the development of sustainability-oriented curricula, the integration of the Theory of Change (ToC) methodology, and the effective use of digital and AI tools to support green transformation in higher education. Particular emphasis was placed on ensuring that academic programmes respond to real-world sustainability challenges and emerging skills needs.

The meeting also served as a platform to align partner contributions across work packages, assess initial results, and refine the roadmap for upcoming activities. Through collaborative workshops and planning sessions, the consortium reinforced its shared commitment to equipping academics and students with the competences required to design, implement, and evaluate sustainable green strategies.

Next Steps

Following the Portugal TPM, the GreenToC consortium will move forward with several key actions, including:

  • Continued development and validation of green transformation curriculum content
  • Training activities for higher education academics on ToC, sustainability, and digital and AI tools
  • Engagement with labour market stakeholders to ensure relevance and practical impact
  • Preparation of dissemination activities to share project outcomes at institutional, national, and European levels

By building on the outcomes of the Portugal meeting, GreenToC continues to foster meaningful collaboration between academia and the labour market, supporting higher education institutions in their role as drivers of sustainable and inclusive green transformation.
