Lab Overview
Evolve Human Sample Preparation is the controlled intake and staging environment for human-derived samples and materials entering the UNIC Evolve research pipeline. It safeguards the earliest and most vulnerable phase of the sample lifecycle: receipt, logging, preparation, centrifugation, and transfer into downstream molecular, biomarker, analytical, or sequencing workflows.
Research & Innovation Focus
The lab enables translational studies involving blood, saliva, cellular material, and other human biological samples. Its strategic function is operational as much as scientific: it establishes traceability, biosafety, sample consistency, and preparation discipline across multi-modal research programmes. This is essential for precision health, longevity, biomarker discovery, clinical research, and longitudinal cohort studies.
Core Capabilities
Capabilities include biosafety-controlled sample opening and handling, automated decapping and recapping, refrigerated microcentrifugation and centrifugation, and dedicated staging for downstream extraction and testing. The lab uses Class II A2 biosafety cabinets, Hamilton LabElite I.D Capper infrastructure, Thermo refrigerated centrifuge systems, and controlled extraction-staging equipment.
Applications & Impact
The lab supports precision medicine studies, cohort biobanking, interventional health programmes, clinical biomarker research, molecular diagnostics development, and human-sample workflows for biotech and pharmaceutical collaborators. It enables integration between sample logistics, biological measurement, sequencing, and computational analysis.
