Lab Overview
Evolve Food Sample Preparation is the first scientific processing point for complex food materials entering UNIC Evolve’s analytical pipeline. Its mission is to convert heterogeneous food samples into uniform, reproducible, and stabilised materials suitable for high-quality downstream measurement.
Research & Innovation Focus
The lab supports intake, homogenisation, cryogenic or cold-assisted milling, stabilisation, and sealed transfer of food samples. It enables research in food composition, nutrition, metabolomics, contaminants, bioactive compounds, formulation science, and food-system analytics.
Core Capabilities
Capabilities include homogenisation with the VWR Bead Mill Max system, cold-processing support through compatible cryo-cooling infrastructure, cryogenic milling (Cryo Milling), and LN2-enabled sample handling. These workflows help preserve chemically sensitive materials, reduce variability, and produce consistent sample states for metrology, molecular analysis, and analytical chemistry.
Applications & Impact
This laboratory facilitates investigations into food quality, nutritional chemistry, biomarker-linked dietary regimes, functional-food engineering, and precision nutrition, alongside environmental food-system evaluation and formulation innovation. It serves as a vital asset for research initiatives focused on correlating nutritional profiles with biological responses, health outcomes, or overall product efficacy
