Erasmus+ Smart Tourism Academy Meeting in Latvia

Partners of the Erasmus+ project Smart Tourism Academy (No. 2025-1-SK01-KA220-HED-000362455) met in Riga on 2 – 3 February 2026 for an international working meeting hosted by Turiba University. The event brought together experts from eight European countries: Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Italy, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland.

The meeting was held in a round-table format and focused on launching the development of new online study courses. Key discussions addressed the structure and teaching approach for the planned course “Green Approaches and the Basics of Regenerative Tourism,” which will be offered to students in the next academic year and will strengthen understanding of sustainability principles, green innovation, and responsible resource management. University of Nicosia participated in the meeting with representatives Yianna Orphanidou and Leonida Efthimiou, contributing substantially to the discussions and planning.

The programme also included a practical demonstration of sustainability in the hotel sector during a visit to the TRIBE hotel, as well as a tour of the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, providing participants with additional cultural and historical context.
