Last Saturday, 31 May 2025, the Medical School’s Mobile Clinic took part in Cyprus Pride 2025, partnering with the AIDS Solidarity Movement’s Cy Checkpoint to provide free, anonymous and rapid HIV and STI testing. Over 120 rapid tests were conducted, together with peer-counselling on adopting safer sexual practices.
This significant upgrade results from a partnership between the University of Nicosia and the Nicosia Race Club, following an agreement signed in October 2023. The School of Veterinary Medicine now manages the clinic, which serves as both an educational and research centre.
At the University of Nicosia, the Mobile Clinic Club offers students a unique opportunity to develop and apply skills that go beyond the classroom, from year 1, while making a meaningful impact on underserved communities.
On a wet and cloudy day, Sunday 10 November, the Medical School’s mobile clinic visited Agros village. The weather added an unusual charm to the day as the team prepared to offer essential health services.
On Sunday, 13 October 2024, the Mobile Clinic team embarked on its first expedition of the new academic year by visiting Farmakas village to participate in its annual festival. The festival highlights Farmakas’s agricultural produce and traditional food products.
Just like every year, the Mobile Clinic once again participated in the Christmas Fiesta fundraising event, organised by the Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society.
On Sunday, 26 November 2023, the Mobile Clinic joined forces with the Cy Checkpoint (Testing and Prevention Centre for HIV and Sexual Transmitted Infections by the AIDS Solidarity Movement) and offered anonymous, rapid and free HIV/syphilis screening tests at Eleftheria square, in the old centre of Nicosia.
