The programme aims to ensure that students will apply ethical standards to evaluate psychological science and practice. Furthermore, students are fully prepared to enter 2nd cycle education, having gained equivalent knowledge, skills, and competence in psychology. International guidelines were followed in the programme’s design.
Career Prospects
The undergraduate psychology program at UNIC is designed to follow international guidelines in the field. Graduates from our Psychology Programme are fully prepared for entry in graduate programmes. Our programme provides a solid theoretical foundation for students to succeed in graduate studies pursuing specialized Master’s or Doctoral programs. Our graduates may also pursue graduate education, as often is the case, in other fields, such as HR, Business Management, Information Technology etc.
Mental Health Careers: Graduates can be employed in the mental health field, in positions such as mental health technicians in a treatment center, counselor assistants, operators for a crisis hotline, or as medical record keepers in a medical facility.
Human Services Careers: With a Bachelor’s degree in psychology a graduate may be employed as a social service clerk or an assistant in welfare agencies, detention centers, or group homes. Other positions include: Psychiatric nursing assistant, youth counselor, case technician, home care aide, and rehabilitation assistant.
Business Careers: Psychology graduates can find many opportunities in business, such as jobs in human resources management, sales, and customer service.
Careers in Education: Schools, daycare centers, and preschools hire individuals with a psychology background to work with students. Positions include paraprofessional or teacher’s assistants, or jobs working with special needs students
Access to Further Studies
Graduates of the programme can be accepted into Second Cycle degrees (Master’s Degree).
Academic Admission
The minimum admission requirement for an Undergraduate (1st Cycle/Bachelor’s) Degree is a recognised High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or equivalent internationally recognized qualifications.
Students with a lower than 7.5/10 or 15/20 or equivalent, HSLC grade depending on the grading system of the country issuing the HSLC, are provided with extra academic guidance and monitoring during the first year of their studies.
Furthermore, applicants eligible for admission to undergraduate programmes under the Greek legal framework, which establishes minimum admission criteria, include:
a) Greek or foreign nationals holding a General High School Diploma (ΓΕ.Λ.) with an average grade in the four (4) nationwide examination subjects equal to or greater than the minimum admission threshold. This threshold is determined by multiplying the lowest average grade among all examinees within a given scientific field by a coefficient of 0.8 in the year of participation.
b) Holders of equivalent secondary education diplomas from recognized foreign schools in Greece (level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework).
c) Holders of international secondary education diplomas issued by schools in Greece or abroad, foreign nationals with an equivalent high school diploma, or an equivalent vocational education qualification granting them the right to access higher education institutions in the country where they studied.
d) For graduates mentioned in point (a) before the academic year 2021-2022, as well as holders of a first-cycle degree, the terms and conditions for selection and admission are set by the parent institution (University of Nicosia) as outlined in the first paragraph of section 1.2.
Proficiency in Greek Language
A prerequisite for the enrollment of students in programmes of study offered in the Greek language is a good knowledge of Greek. This can be demonstrated by a B2 level certificate from the Center for the Teaching of Greek as a Foreign Language, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, B2 Proficiency Certificate from the School of Modern Greek Language, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, or B2 Level Certificate from the Center for the Greek Language (Ministry of Education, Greece).
This certificate is not required if:
1) if the student holds a secondary education diploma from a Greek or Cypriot school,
2) or if the student holds a secondary education diploma from a foreign school from which it is evident that the student has successfully studied and been examined in the Greek language.

The student must complete 240 ECTS and all programme requirements.
A minimum cumulative grade point average (CPA) of 2.0 is required. Thus, although a ‘D-‘ is a PASS grade, in order to achieve a CPA of 2.0 an average grade of ‘C’ is required.
