University of Nicosia Ranks Among the Top 401-500 Universities in the World for Social Sciences
The University of Nicosia ranks among the top universities in the world in six different subject areas, in the THE WUR by Subject 2026
The results of the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) by Subject rank the University of Nicosia (UNIC) among the 401-500 Top universities in the world, and 104th in the European Union, for Social Sciences.
Commenting on the results of the THE WUR by Subject, the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Klimis Mastoridis, noted: “The 2026 international rankings reaffirm the excellence and dedication that define our School’s academic community. Our strong performance in Social Sciences is a clear recognition of our colleagues’ sustained commitment to high-quality research and scholarly achievement. I would also like to warmly acknowledge the valuable contribution of our colleagues in the School of Law, whose work plays a vital role in the overall success of Social Sciences at the University. This steady recognition underscores our ongoing dedication to impactful research and academic distinction”.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) is possibly the most influential university classification system globally, drawing on five decades of expertise in the sector and millions of individual data points.
These subject rankings are the latest in a succession of distinctions bestowed on UNIC by Times Higher Education, which notably includes ranking the University among the Top 501-600 universities worldwide in its flagship World University Rankings for 2026.
