Ioulia Papageorgi is the Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and a Professor of Educational Psychology in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Nicosia. She holds the titles Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), Chartered Psychologist (CPsychol) and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (AFBPsS). She served as Convenor of the Board of Educational Affairs of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA) until 2025, and is an elected member of the Committee of Society for Education, Music and Psychology Research (SEMPRE). Additionally, she currently serves on the Cyprus National Bioethics Committee as President of the Review Bioethics Committee for Biomedical Research. Her research interests include teaching and learning in psychology, music performance anxiety, the development of expertise, the association between music training, cognitive and socioemotional development, and psychometric testing. She has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and several book chapters. Ioulia has co-edited four books in the areas of psychology of music performance, psychometrics, educational psychology and cognitive psychology. She is currently authoring a book on integrative psychotherapy approaches for the treatment of music performance anxiety to be published in 2026 by Routledge.
