Stefan Beck (1960-2015) was a professor of anthropology at the Department of European Ethnology of Humboldt University Berlin. Since 1998, he had done fieldwork in Cyprus, addressing the interface between biomedical science and social anthropology. He closely cooperated with colleagues at the University of Nicosia as well as at other research institutions in Cyprus. Stefan Beck died unexpectedly on 27 March 2015 while visiting friends and family in Australia.
The University of Nicosia is holding an academic memorial event on 29 September 2015 in his memory. You are invited to honour Stefan Beck’s contribution to the development of Medical Anthropology in and of Cyprus.
