The Department of Law at the University of Nicosia is hosting an online info session titled “Navigating the New Digital Rulebook: AI, LegalTech & EU Platform Regulation” on Wednesday, 16 July 2025 between 18.30-19.30.
This event, organised by the Master in Technology Regulation (MA) E-Learning/Distance Learning (Online) progamme, offers a unique opportunity to explore how cutting-edge AI solutions are transforming legal industry, and how the EU’s evolving regulatory framework for gatekeeper platforms is reshaping the digital economy.
The event will feature two concise presentations:
- “EU Regulation of Large Digital Platforms”
- “AI and LegalTech”
In these two presentations we will discuss what does the EU digital regulatory “package” -DSA, DMA, AIA etc.- mean for online platforms, businesses and consumers, as well as how generative AI, predictive analytics and LegalTech new concepts are redefining the legal industry, its stakeholders, and the career opportunities these concepts create.

Professor Dr Irini Stamatoudi
Irini Stamatoudi is an Intellectual Property Professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Nicosia and the Head of the Law Department. From 2007 to 2018, she served as the General Director of the Greek National Copyright Office (Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports). She has worked as a copyright expert on various projects in Georgia, Abu Dhabi, Turkey, Egypt, Azerbaijan, and other locations. She has taught academic courses in the UK, Greece, Cyprus, Italy, France, and beyond. Some of her writings are internationally regarded as reference texts.

Professor Dr Phedon Nicolaides
Phedon Nicolaides is professor of European economic law at the University of Maastricht, and a visiting professor at the University of Nicosia and the College of Europe, Bruges. He has been educated in the United States, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. He holds a PhD in law and a PhD in economics. He has published extensively on competition policy and the EU’s economic and monetary union. He has acted as advisor to EU institutions such as the Commission, the European Parliament and the European Investment Bank, national authorities, and companies.
Assistant Professor Dr Dimitrios Koukiadis
Dimitrios Koukiadis is an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Nicosia, and Adjunct Professor of Law at Goethe University Frankfurt/Main. He has studied at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, School of Law, at Northwestern University, School of Law/Kellogg School of Business, at Harvard University/Kennedy School of Government, and at Oxford University/Said Business School. He holds a Doctorate in Laws from Goethe University Frankfurt/Main, School of Law. He has worked and published in the fields of internet normativity, personal data protection, disruptive technologies, artificial intelligence, European and Comparative law, and labor law.
