Department of Law

The Department awarded the first Law degrees recognised by the Republic and the Cyprus Legal Council. Our degrees have achieved international accreditation by Quality Assurance agencies in the UK, Greece, Canada, and other Commonwealth states. We are also members of top academic international consortia such as the European Law Faculties Association. Our undergraduate law programme is offered in a unique configuration of separate common law, continental law, and mixed law perspectives that respectively cater to the needs of international, Greek, and Cypriot audiences. Our courses are offered in both English and Greek, and they are delivered both conventionally inclass and through an innovative distance learning system that facilitates global outreach. The same applies to our Master of Laws programme which additionally offers specialisations in European business law and human rights and social justice.

What our Students say

University of Nicosia – three words, three years, hundreds of experiences!Law is the second undergraduate degree I obtained with the first one being in Political Sciences and Public Administration at the Kapodistrian University of Athens. UNIC is a forward-thinking university of highly trained personnel. The various amenities offered, the resources available (especially the electronic databases) and the helpful staff helped me achieve my goal of successfully completing my law studies. I should point out that the Department of Student Affairs assisted me a great deal during the first period of my new academic journey on the island.

Thank you for everything, University of Nicosia!

Panagiotis Gargalis, Law (LLB)

I consider my Law degree at the University of Nicosia an enriching experience. The lecturers were great and willing to assist with any concerns we may have had. I especially appreciated the choice of elective courses, which allowed me to concentrate in the field of law I am now pursuing. I was fortunate enough to be selected for the UNIC Law Clinic, where we worked on solutions for juvenile justice, which were eventually presented to the relevant European Committee. All in all, I would say that it was a great four years, and I would definitely recommend studying at UNIC.
