Call for Applications to the Architecture Programmes of the University of Nicosia

The Department of Architecture of the University of Nicosia announces the opening of twenty (20) positions for admission to the Architecture Programmes (Architecture – BAArch, 4 Years & Architecture – DipArch, 5 Years) for the Fall 2021 semester.

The Architecture programmes have gained a distinct identity, locally and internationally, providing a rich, well-rounded architectural education, driven by a critically innovative, cutting-edge approach in an inspiring multicultural environment. Besides that, they provide students with a comprehensive set of skills, competences and knowledge with the aim of preparing them for a career in Architecture. A highly-personalised education prepares students for the ever-changing future.

The mission is to create critical thinkers, who are intellectually acute, socially aware, and technically skilled architects that can meaningfully contribute to contemporary architectural discourse. A strong design-based education equips students with both a hands-on approach and advanced knowledge and understanding of cutting-edge digital tools and technologies.

Global issues are addressed, along with local conditions of culture, climate, the local industry and social needs. Ecological and sustainable thinking are highly valued, providing the necessary tools of context, comprehension and application of social, environmental and cultural aspects.

The programmes cater to diversity, enabling students to prepare complex design projects of various scales and in diverse contexts. Students are able to draw from multiple theoretical resources and use a range of skills and media in order to achieve a comprehensive resolution to a design brief.

The first four years of the programme lead to a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture Degree, preparing the students to continue their studies into the final year of their architectural education. Following the completion of the 5-year cycle of studies (300ECTS) students are awarded the Professional Diploma in Architecture.

Graduates of the programmes are well prepared for a labour market orientation and can pursue a professional career in architectural practice. They are also well equipped for further postgraduate studies or an academic career.

The Professional Diploma in Architecture is recognized by the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK – Επιστημονικό Τεχνικό Επιμελητήριο Κύπρου) and the European Commission.
