University of Nicosia: Among the Top 176-200 universities in the word, in the area of Education

The results of the latest edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2023, reaffirm the University of Nicosia’s (UNIC) global standing, ranking it among the Top 176-200 universities in the world in the area of Education.

Correspondingly, UNIC ranks 40th in the European Union and 1st among the Cypriot and Greek Universities (together with the University of Cyprus), in the area.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings (WUR) is the largest and most multi-level ranking of universities in the world with five decades of experience in the field.

Commenting on the results of the THE Rankings by Subject, the Dean of the School of Education, Professor Elena Papanastasiou, expressed her great satisfaction with these results, noting that: “these rankings objectively highlight the undisputable quality of our work both nationally and internationally.  On this occasion, I would like to warmly thank all of my colleagues who have collectively contributed towards this huge achievement, as well as the administration of the University of Nicosia for its constant support”.

The results of this year’s World University Rankings by Subject are the latest in a succession of distinctions bestowed on UNIC by Times Higher Education. Along with its inclusion in the Top 501-600 universities in the world (THE WUR table), UNIC was ranked:

  • 179th among the universities in the world that are 50 years old or younger by the 2022 THE Young University Rankings;
  • 122nd among the universities of countries or regions classified by the London Stock Exchange’s FTSE Group as “Emerging” by the 2022 THE Emerging Economies Rankings;
  • 36th in the world in the core area of Quality Education by the 2022 THE Impact Rankings.
