Security Challenges in Turbulent Times – Insights from the Eastern Mediterranean

The Eastern Mediterranean, one of today’s most geopolitically complex regions and an emerging geopolitical space, was the focus of webinar held on Thursday, 8 May 2025, titled “Security Challenges in Turbulent Times – Insights from the Eastern Mediterranean”.

The webinar, organised by the MA in International Relations and Eastern Mediterranean Studies, E-Learning/Distance Learning (Online) programme, emphasised critical issues affecting the security landscape of the Eastern Mediterranean. It addressed key questions of regional and global significance, highlighting matters related to international relations, diplomacy, security, foreign policies and regional affairs and conflicts.

Participants engaged with presentations delivered by distinguished academics of the Department of Politics and Governance of the University of Nicosia Professor Hubert Faustmann and Dr Constantinos Adamides (Head of Department). Dr Michalis Kontos, Associate Professor of the Department of Politics and Governance and Programme Coordinator of the MA in International Relations and Eastern Mediterranean Studies, coordinated the webinar.
