Visit the Primary Care Centre Booth at Coffeeology1010 to register with the University Care Centre, the first of its kind in Cyprus, which operates under the Cyprus National Health Care System (Gesy).
The Centre serves the primary health care needs of the UNIC community and the local population. The multidisciplinary primary care team includes 5 general practitioners:
Prof Evagoras Nicolaides, BSc(Hons) Physiology (University of Birmingham), BA,MB BCH BAO (Hons), MA (Trinity College, University of Dublin), MRCP (UK), FRCP (London), FESC
Dr Evagoras Nicolaides is the Director of the University Primary Care Centre and Professor of Postgraduate Medicine at the University of Nicosia Medical School. A fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, he formerly served as Director of the Cardiology Department and Medical Director of Nicosia General Hospital. He has also served as the first chairman of the Cyprus Medical Education Council.
Dr Christos Michael, MBBS, BSc Immunology, (UCL London), MRCGP, DipDerm (Cardiff), DRCOG
Dr Michael has been working in the UK NHS since 2011 and in London as a General Practitioner since 2016. He has a special interest in Dermatology. He was also a Clinical Supervisor for Imperial Medical School community placements and is a Member of the UK Royal College of General Practitioners.
Dr George Athanasiou, MD, MSc, AvME, PhDc
Dr George Athanasiou is a Clinical Assistant Professor of General Practice and Head of Occupational Health Services at the University of Nicosia Medical School. He served for eight years in the A&E department of the Larnaca General Hospital. His research focuses on Primary Healthcare management and quality improvement. He is interested in Aviation Medicine, where he is active in the medical certification of flying personnel. His interests also include Emergency and Major Disaster Management.
Dr Emanuella Georgiou, MBBS, BSc Pharmacology (UCL London), FSRH, MRCGP, Dip Der (Cardiff University). From 1 January 2020
Dr Georgiou is a General Practitioner with special interest in dermatology and family planning. Dr Georgiou has been working with the UK’s NHS system since 2003 and as a GP since 2010. Dr Georgiou will start her employment with the UPCC on 1 January 2020.
Dr Anastasis Sioftanos, MBBS, BSc Physiology (UCL London), MRCGP, Dip Diab (Cardiff University), Masters Echocardiography (Imperial College London). From 1 January 2020
Dr Sioftanos is a General Practitioner with a special interest in diabetes and in cardiology. Dr Sioftanos has been working with the UK’s NHS system since 2003 and as a GP in London since 2010. Dr Sioftanos will start his employment with the UPCC on 1 January 2020.
