UNIC Student Excels in International Music Competition
Christos Televandos, a University of Nicosia student, earned significant distinctions at the 23rd Annual “UniverSong” World Music Competition in Madrid. Specifically, he won First Prize in the “Best Foreign Song Interpreter” category and Second Prize in the “Best Musical Tribute” category.
The competition, organised by the International Organization of Music Festivals (ORFEUM), attracted participants from 26 countries, with a judging panel that included distinguished musicians and Grammy Award winners. Christos’s achievement marks the first time a Cypriot artist has received awards in this competition.
The awards ceremony took place at the historic Longoria Palace in Madrid, home to the Spanish General Society of Authors and Music Publishers (SGAE). Notably, Christos was also selected as a finalist in four additional categories, including “Best Global Artist” and “Best European Artist”.
The distinguished student, who studies Music at the University of Nicosia, has already represented Cyprus in numerous international competitions while maintaining an active presence in the island’s artistic scene.
