UNIC Alumnus Becomes the First Person in the World to Receive a UK National Honour for Blockchain and Cryptoasset Technologies
The University of Nicosia proudly celebrates the achievement of alumnus Professor Dr Naseem Naqvi MBE, who has become the first person in the world to receive a UK National Honour for services to Blockchain and Cryptoasset Technologies.
The distinction was awarded through the Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE), recognising Professor Naqvi’s contribution to the advancement of blockchain technologies and their growing impact across academia, industry and society. A graduate of the University of Nicosia’s MSc in Digital Currency programme, Professor Naqvi has dedicated much of his career to advancing research, education and innovation in the blockchain sector. He currently serves as President of the British Blockchain Association and has been involved in numerous initiatives promoting the responsible development and adoption of blockchain technologies worldwide.
What makes this recognition particularly significant is the fact that Professor Naqvi is the first individual globally to receive a UK National Honour specifically for contributions to the field of Blockchain and Cryptoasset Technologies, reflecting the growing importance of these technologies and their influence on the future of the digital economy.
