UNIC ranks #2* in Cyprus for Clinical and Health
The University of Nicosia ranks among the top universities in the world in 5 different subject areas, in the THE WUR by Subject 2024
* sharing position with the Technological University of Cyprus
The results of the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE WUR) by Subject, place the University of Nicosia (UNIC) #2 in Cyprus for Clinical and Health, alongside the Technological University of Cyprus.
Correspondingly, UNIC ranks among the Top 601–800 universities in the world, and #168 in the EU in the discipline.
Commenting on the results of the THE WUR by Subject, UNIC’s Executive Vice President for Health, Professor Andreas Charalambous, noted:
“As a young institution we are making significant strides in impactful research, and these results are just the starting point. We look forward to the contributions of our shared One Health research strategy, emphasizing the interconnectedness of human, animal and environmental health, within UNIC Health”.
The Dean of the Medical School, Professor Adonis Ioannides, noted:
“The University of Nicosia is once again ranked among the world’s leading universities in this competitive subject. This reflects the commitment of the Medical School team to excellence in education, research and service to society and bodes well for the future, with the University being in a strong position to build on its current achievements.”
Also commenting on the results, the Dean of the School of Life and Health Sciences, Professor Kyriakos Felekkis noted:

Our unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries in health education and research is evident in this distinction. The THE WUR is possibly the best-known and most influential university classification system in the world, drawing on five decades of expertise in the sector and millions of individual data points.
The outcomes of this year’s THE WUR by Subject represent the most recent in a series of accolades granted to UNIC by Times Higher Education. In addition to this, UNIC also ranks:
- #1 in Cyprus and Greece, alongside the University of Cyprus, the University of Crete, and the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and among the top 501-600 universities globally (2024 THE World University Rankings);
- #1 in Cyprus alongside the University of Cyprus, among the Top 60 in the European Union and among the Top 101-150 in the world, by 2023 THE Young University Rankings (universities that are 50 years old or younger).
