“Sunny Side Up” wins “Audience Award” at NYC’s “21 islands international Short Film Fest”

The animated film “Sunny Side Up” by Professor Paschalis Paschalis, Head of the Department of Design & Multimedia of the University of Nicosia has won the “Audience Award” at NYC’s “21 islands international Short Film Fest”.

“Sunny Side Up” is inspired by the observation of the unsettled mind, or according to a metaphor used in Buddhism and Taoism the “monkey mind”, during the period of lockdowns when time for reflection was extensive. The short film takes place in a household kitchen where many of us spent a lot of our free time.

It is worth noting that the film was selected from over 2,000 multilingual submissions originating in hundreds of qualifying locations worldwide to participate in the festival’s 7th edition, which took place in February 2023 and featured 51 films.

“Sunny Side Up” has also been selected and featured at the Music and Cinema International Festival of Marseille, France, the International Short Film Festival of Cyprus (ISFFC) and the Animattikon project International Animation Festival.
