Communication is one of the towering features of our times. Journalism, social media publishing, radio and television production, advertising, public relations and marketing and consumer research are all areas which require communication skills.
Above all, our age is the epoch of mass communication militating as it does, a fascinating range of mass media, from the newspaper to the Internet. To be able to understand, use and work in these media, one must know their dynamics, their functional processes as well as their social potential.
Communication is, furthermore, a prerequisite for the effective conduct of the tasks of the political leader, the journalist, the business manager, the advertising or public relations executive, to name just a few. These professions require the practitioners to understand how people think, what factors shape their behaviour, under what conditions they can be influenced or persuaded. It is also vital to understand the dynamics of mass media, especially the advent of web 2.0 technologies and the principles which guide their organization and functioning.
The University of Nicosia is a leader in studies in the communications field. Students pursuing degrees in such programs are prepared for employment in the broad area of communications, particularly in journalism, social media management, radio, television and other digital broadcasting media including digital film production, as well as in various areas of business and corporate communication such as public relations, marketing and advertising.
The University of Nicosia has been in the front ranks of tertiary institutions offering programs in communication for the last decade and aspires to continue to lead the area in the future, continuously enriching and renewing its bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees.
