Location: Research building, room 103

Uses include: Blood Lipid Profile, Blood Glucose, Weight, Height, Body Mass Index , Body Fat Analysis, Blood Pressure, Dietary Analysis, Bone Density Analysis, Presentation of educational /teaching tools (food pyramid, posters), Nutrition Counseling, Nutrition Education Classes, and In house library (manuals, books).

Location: Research building, room 106

Uses include: pH determination of foods, titratable acidity, colour determination of food colorants including chlorophyll and anthocyanins, Maillard reaction between reducing sugars and amino acids, Fat crystallisation, Sensory evaluation of foods, Determination of protein content using the Kjeldahl method, and determination of protein content using a spectrophotometric method (Biuret Test).

Biomedical research Laboratories

Location: Main building, room A106

This laboratory is employed for undergraduate biology courses. It contains teaching lab equipment such as a Visible-UV spectrophotometer, centrifuge, microscopes, and various plastic models for demonstrations. Each student station is equipped with running water, gas, and electricity. Gas leakage detectors and fire alarms/detectors are included for safety in the laboratory

Uses include: Blood Lipid Profile, Blood Glucose, Weight, Height, Body Mass Index , Body Fat Analysis, Blood Pressure, Dietary Analysis, Bone Density Analysis, Presentation of educational /teaching tools (food pyramid, posters), Nutrition Counseling, Nutrition Education Classes, and In house library (manuals, books).

Location: Main building, room A113

This laboratory is employed mainly for undergraduate chemistry courses. It is equipped with student stations fitted with running water, gas, and electricity. Full safety considerations are included through gas leakage detectors and fire alarms/detectors. Other equipment includes electronic balances, portable fumehoods, Visible-UV spectrophotometers, hot plates, magnetic stirrers, heating mantles, and a variety of glassware and plasticware, and other laboratory support equipment.

This laboratory supports the research efforts of faculty members and students. It also includes a small preparation section where the Laboratory Technician prepares undergraduate laboratory experiments. It has an HPLC for research, distilled water production apparatus, fumehood, rotary vacuum evaporator, autoclave, incubator, hot plates, electronic balance, refrigerator, upright freezer, and oven

Location: Main building, room A111

This dark room supports molecular biology courses in the program. It is used for film development and in the future for X-ray film development. It contains a DNA gel electrophoresis chamber with power supply, and a UV lamp.

Location: Main building, room A210

This laboratory is used exclusively for faculty research and students in their final year project. It contains a -20oC spark-proof refrigerator, a Real-Time PCR cycler for DNA processing, a regular PCR cycler, a centrifuge, microscopes and other research grade equipment. It also contains two cell culture hoods, a humid CO2 incubator, a water bath, a centrifuge, a freezer, a liquid nitrogen container and an inverted microscope with camera.

This laboratory is used exclusively for faculty research and students in their final year project, under the supervision of the faculty. It contains a -80oC refrigerator, tissue lysis centrifuge, DNA/RNA extraction robot, horizontal incubator, hybridization chamber, rotary blood agitator, incubator and other research grade equipment.

This laboratory is employed mainly for undergraduate biology, microbiology and biochemistry courses. It contains teaching lab equipment such as fixed and portable UV-visible spectrophotometers, fume cupboards, a Zeiss Primo Star microscope connected to a projector and a G Box (gel imagery for fluorescence visible application). Each student station is equipped with running water, gas, and electricity. Gas leakage detectors, eye wash station, safety shower and fire alarms/detectors are included for safety in the laboratory

Location: Main Building, room A115

This laboratory is employed by undergraduate developmental biology courses and students working on their final year projects. It includes a Cryostat, incubator for embryos, Western blot equipment, -80oCand centrifuges.
