The Research Centre for Exercise and Nutrition (RECEN) is a multidisciplinary research centre consisting of scientists from different life and health sciences disciplines.
RECEN research aims to conduct high-quality and innovative research activities focusing on the role of exercise and nutrition on health and quality of life-related parameters in various population groups, including healthy people of all ages and patients with chronic diseases. RECEN will help with networking creation and the establishment of even further collaborations with high-quality research centres in Cyprus and abroad. RECEN also aims to have a role in national policies in nutrition and sports and exercise science areas contributing to further development of these specific areas. It is noteworthy that the members of the proposed research centre are also members (including board members) of national and European professional bodies in their field.
Research of RECEN aims to promote various aspects of health and quality of life, including physiological, biochemical, and physical fitness parameters, as well as sleep, cognition, and mental health.
The RECEN maintains a strong network of local and international collaborators and is directed by Dr. Christoforos D. Giannaki, Associate Professor in the Department of Life and Health Sciences of the University of Nicosia.
