Dr Lefteris (Eleftherios) Kretsos is Associate Professor of Leadership and Human Resource Management at the University of Nicosia (UNIC Athens), where he leads the Business Management programme. He also serves as Honorary Reader at Brunel University of London.
His research addresses employment relations, labour-market regulation, precarious work, artificial intelligence and the future of work, collective employee voice, inclusive leadership, sustainable organisational transformation, and social justice at work. A central focus is human-centred digital competitiveness, examining how technological innovation, productivity, and organisational transformation can support decent work, inclusive institutions, social dialogue, and democratic accountability.
Dr Kretsos has contributed to many externally funded and international research projects. His work has been published in leading journals, including Regional Studies, Industrial Marketing Management, and Work, Employment and Society. His publications cover sustainable value creation, precarious employment, labour-market deregulation, trade unionism, creative work, and employment regulation. He has also co-edited books and contributed chapters on AI, inclusive leadership, platform work, migration, and social justice.
Throughout his academic career, he has taught undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, and doctoral students in HRM, leadership, and the future of work. He has supervised over 200 undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations and doctoral researchers. He has contributed to academic publishing and research assessment through editorial board memberships, journal reviewing, and ESRC/UKRI grant reviews. Dr Kretsos has also held senior public-policy roles in Greece, including Government Spokesman and Deputy Minister.
