DECENTRALIZED LEARNING SERIES 2020-2021

Europe’s premier blockchain happening returns as a series of webinars focused on learning, the first of which features a discussion between W. Scott Stornetta and Antonis Polemitis, and a Workshop on the RippleX platform

As the world goes online due to the coronavirus pandemic, DECENTRALIZED 2020 is adapting its format to continue the robust discussion surrounding the critical next steps in our Decentralized future. The global conference series is set to return for a fourth year, this time reformatted as a series of dynamic webinars focused on learning.

The DECENTRALIZED Learning Series will kick off on Wednesday, 11 November 2020, with a discussion between Dr. W. Scott Stornetta (Partner and Chief Scientist, Yugen Partners) and Mr. Antonis Polemitis (CEO, University of Nicosia), as well as a specialised Ripple Workshop on the RippleX open-source platform addressed to developers.

W. Scott Stornetta, considered one of the “fathers” of Blockchain, three times referenced in Satoshi Nakamoto’s original Bitcoin design paper, and Antonis Polemitis, who spearheaded the first full academic degree in the field (MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency) at the University of Nicosia, will be picking up the threads expertly highlighted through the hugely successful DECENTRALIZED Conferences (18:00-19:00, Cyprus time). The speakers will engage with emerging thinking and related trends in Business, Technology, and Academia, while also touching upon the latest implications of blockchain technologies and digital currencies.

The subsequent Ripple Workshop, titled “RippleX: Helping Developers Build Trust, Utility and Liquidity with Blockchain” (19:00-21:00, Cyprus time), will address how developers can forge a path to the world of crypto and better navigate the uncharted territory blockchain has hastened. More specifically, Warren Paul Anderson (Head of Developer Relations, Ripple) and Michael Zochowski (Head of DeFL, Ripple) will discuss how to move the dial for developers to connect, communicate, and program, while building trust, utility, and liquidity for a blockchain-powered economy. The RippleX open-source platform, which targets a network of more than 20 million developers globally, allows developers to get started with blockchain, without needing to know the nuances of the underlying protocols. The presenters will outline how a platform approach is moving the industry forward to improve the way that developers transact using various protocols (such as the XRP Ledger, Inter-ledger and PayID), and what that means for the broader world of finance.

As always, the reformatted DECENTRALIZED 2020 is organised by the University of Nicosia (UNIC), a leading global provider of education and research in blockchain and digital currencies.
