University of Nicosia Takes Active Role in NEOLAiA Student Advisory Group

Meeting at University of Jaén between 6 and 8 of October

The University of Nicosia (UNIC) recently participated in a significant NEOLAiA Student Advisory Group (SAG) meeting hosted by the University of Jaén, Spain, between 6 and 8 of October, contributing to key decisions shaping the future of student representation across European Higher Education.

The meeting, which brought together representatives from nine European universities representing over 150,000 students, focused on strengthening student engagement and improving organisational efficiency within the NEOLAiA Alliance.

UNIC’s delegation played a multifaceted role in the proceedings, chairing discussion sessions and actively participating in critical decision-making processes. The University also showcased its programmes and initiatives through an information desk, engaging with international students and highlighting UNIC’s role as the Alliance’s Digital Innovation partner.

The University’s participation in the University of Jaén’s radio programme provided an excellent platform to discuss UNIC’s involvement in SAG and its contribution to digital innovation through Work Package 9.

Key outcomes from the meeting included:

  • Refinement of SAG’s organisational structure
  • Establishment of clearer communication channels
  • Development of strategies for student involvement in education, mobility, and digital transformation
  • Planning of short mobility programmes and cultural exchanges
  • Formation of a dedicated student network.

The annual face-to-face meetings emphasise NEOLAiA’s commitment to mobility and cross-cultural collaboration among partner institutions. The physical presence interaction strengthens relationships between SAG representatives and facilitates more effective networking opportunities.
