University of Nicosia Celebrates Excellence at the Department of Engineering Student Award Ceremony 2026
The Department of Engineering at the University of Nicosia successfully hosted its Student Award Ceremony 2026 at the University’s UNESCO Amphitheatre, bringing together distinguished guests, faculty members, industry partners, students, and families to celebrate outstanding academic achievement and innovation.
The ceremony recognized the exceptional accomplishments of engineering students across multiple disciplines, highlighting not only academic excellence but also dedication, creativity, and professional potential. In his address, the Head of the Department of Engineering, Dr. Stelios Neophytou, emphasized that the event represents more than awards, noting that it celebrates the “journey of perseverance, resilience, and achievement” undertaken by the graduates.
The event featured opening remarks from prominent academic and industry leaders, including Professor Dimitris Drikakis, Dean of the School of Sciences and Engineering, as well as representatives from leading organizations that presented awards to the top graduating students.

Top-performing students were honoured across all engineering programmes. Among the major distinctions included the Best Graduates of the Department, the Best Graduates of Academic Programmes including Oil & Gas, Computer, Civil & Environmental, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. Awards were also presented for Best Capstone and Senior Year Projects, recognizing innovation and practical impact in engineering design and research. Certifications were also presented to top-performing Electrical Engineering students progressing to their final year of study, who received academic excellence scholarships.
On behalf of the awarding bodies, Mr Basil Allam, Country Manager of Chevron Cyprus, underlined the company’s strong commitment to supporting academic excellence and recognising top-performing students across engineering disciplines. He also highlighted the critical role of academic faculty in shaping the engineering mindset and instilling the professionalism that graduates will carry throughout their careers.
