University of Nicosia Alumna Selected to Deliver Student Address at NYU School of Law Convocation

Aila Ansheles, a graduate of the University of Nicosia School of Law, has been selected to deliver the student address at the graduate convocation ceremony of the New York University (NYU) School of Law on 19 May 2026, one of the most prestigious honours a law student can receive.

Ansheles completed her LLB at the University of Nicosia in 2025 with the highest academic distinction and on a full academic scholarship. The University of Nicosia School of Law was the first institution in Cyprus to award law degrees recognised by the Republic and the Cyprus Legal Council, and holds international accreditation from quality assurance agencies in the UK, Greece, Canada, and other Commonwealth states.

At UNIC, she led the International Criminal Law Moot Court Team and represented the University at the Mediterranean Model United Nations, serving as Main Submitter at the Plenary Session. Before her LLM at NYU, she worked as a compliance analyst at Harney Westwood & Riegels, specialising in anti-money laundering and financial crime risk assessment.

At NYU School of Law, she has served as a research assistant, trained at a New York law firm, and volunteered for congressional campaigns. She is also completing her first poetry collection, Psyche, featuring her original artwork.

The University of Nicosia congratulates Aila Ansheles on this remarkable distinction and wishes her every success as she embarks on the next chapter of her distinguished legal career.
