The Medical School of the University of Nicosia has started a new cervical screening programme for Filipino domestic workers in Cyprus in collaboration with the Filipino Association Obreras Empowered and with the support of the Histopathology and Cytology Medical Centre in Nicosia.

In an announcement on Wednesday it said that the first screening took place on Sunday May 27 at the Medical School. Twenty three Filipino women were examined by Medical School’s Clinical Lead for Obstetrics and Gynaecology Savvas Argyrides.

In parallel to this, the Medical School in collaboration with Business Professional Women and with the support of the Ministry of Health continues for a second consecutive year to offer free PAP tests to women living in remote areas of Larnaca and Limassol districts.

So far more than 500 women have been examined, UNIC said.
