Hundreds of people visited the University of Nicosia for a festive week full of activities

The “UNIC Christmas Spirit” week-long celebration concluded successfully, drawing hundreds of visitors to the University of Nicosia for a festive week brimming with activities. Organised by the University during December 1-7, the festivities were a hit among students, faculty, the wider community, and their families.

The highlight was the lighting ceremony of the University’s impressive 10-meter-tall Christmas tree, held in the bustling open amphitheatre. A joyous crowd joined in singing and dancing to beloved Christmas melodies, creating a picturesque scene.

Throughout the week, the University campus transformed into a vibrant “Christmas village,” featuring an outdoor market. Here, visitors explored stalls offering handmade goods, including candles, decorations, gifts, sweets, and a variety of street food.

The “Christmas Village” buzzed with activities suitable for all ages. Attendees enjoyed theatre and musical performances, engaging storytelling sessions, a Santa Claus Photo Booth, a bouncy castle, face painting, and more.

Adding to the family-friendly atmosphere, “UNIC Christmas Spirit” hosted free screenings of classic Christmas movies at the newly renovated auditorium inside UNIC’s central building. These screenings attracted dozens from the UNIC community, as well as friends of the University.

The series of events culminated with a Christmas party for UNIC students and alumni, held at the impressive LOFT Restaurant & Bar situated on the 12th floor of UNIC’s SIX Residence, where UNIC students and alumni gathered to celebrate the season.
