The 95th EJN (in Civil and Commercial Matters) Meeting in Brussels

Our co-director Dr Nicolas Kyriakides served as one of Cyprus’ representatives at the 95th meeting of the European Judicial Network (EJN) in Brussels. This meeting focused on EU procedures related to the Small Claims (Regulation (EC) No 861/2007), European Payment Order (EOP/Regulation (EC) No 1896/2006), and European Account Preservation Order (EAPO/Regulation (EU) No 655/2014) Regulations.

The two-day event, held on April 25th and 26th, brought together contact points and central authorities from various EU member states. Key highlights included presentations on practical implementations of these regulations. Marco Giacalone and Paola Giacalone from the Vrije Universiteit of Brussels discussed the SCAN2 Project, offered insights into the Small Claims Regulation. Additionally, European Commission representatives Jacek Gartska and Georg Haibach provided overviews of recent CJEU case law on EU procedures and engaged in discussions on the operation of the aforementioned regulations.

The meeting served as a platform for sharing best practices, addressing challenges, and enhancing collaboration among EU member states in the field of civil and commercial law.
