MSc in Digital Currency, Class of 2021

France

The University of Nicosia stood out as a global pioneer in blockchain education. The Institute For the Future (IFF) has built a strong reputation for its research excellence, industry relevance and early adoption of blockchain technologies. What ultimately convinced me was the comprehensive nature of the programme.

My professional background is rooted in industrial environments where innovation, reliability and long-term vision are essential. I currently work for Hager, a leading company in electrical distribution solutions and building automation, operating at the intersection of energy management, digitalisation and smart infrastructure. Throughout my career, I have been involved in roles that required understanding complex systems, emerging technologies and their impact on large-scale organisations. This naturally led me to develop a strong interest in blockchain technology and crypto assets.

My initial interest in blockchain came from its disruptive potential beyond cryptocurrencies. I quickly understood that blockchain is not just a financial innovation, but a foundational technology capable of transforming trust, traceability, data integrity and automation across industries. Use cases such as decentralized identity, secure device communication, smart contracts and transparent supply chains resonated strongly with the challenges faced by industrial groups like Hager. Crypto assets, tokenisation, and decentralised governance models further reinforced my conviction that blockchain would become a strategic component of future digital ecosystems.

As my interest deepened, I realised that gaining a superficial understanding of blockchain would not be sufficient. I wanted a rigorous, academic and structured education, that would allow me to fully grasp both the technical foundations and the economic, regulatory and strategic implications of blockchain and digital currencies. This led me to enrol in the MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency programme at the University of Nicosia.

The University of Nicosia stood out as a global pioneer in blockchain education. The Institute For the Future (IFF) has built a strong reputation for its research excellence, industry relevance and early adoption of blockchain technologies. What ultimately convinced me was the comprehensive nature of the programme. The MSc goes far beyond hype, offering deep insights into cryptography, distributed systems, token economics, monetary theory, regulation, and real-world applications. The flexibility of the online format also made it possible to pursue this degree alongside my professional responsibilities.

Today, in my role at Hager, blockchain knowledge has become a valuable asset. My studies have significantly influenced my professional approach, particularly in how I analyse digital transformation initiatives, assess emerging technologies, and engage with innovation-driven discussions. UNIC’s MSc programme strengthened my ability to evaluate blockchain use cases critically, understand their feasibility in industrial contexts and identify where decentralized technologies can genuinely create value. It has also enhanced my credibility when interacting with technical experts, innovation teams, and strategic decision-makers.

My experience in the MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency programme has been extremely positive. The quality of the teaching staff is exceptional, combining academic rigour with real-world expertise. The curriculum is well-structured, continuously updated, and grounded in practical examples. Another major strength of the programme is its diverse and international student community, which creates a rich learning environment with perspectives from finance, technology, law, entrepreneurship and industry.

I would strongly recommend this programme to anyone seeking a serious and in-depth understanding of blockchain and digital currencies. Whether you are an industry professional, a technology leader, or someone looking to position yourself at the forefront of digital innovation, this MSc provides both the knowledge and the analytical mindset required to navigate a rapidly evolving technological landscape. It is a demanding programme, but one that delivers long-term value and a truly transformative learning experience.
