The program has been a game-changer. It deepened my understanding of Bitcoin and equipped me with the skills to apply this knowledge in practical, impactful ways.

My journey into Bitcoin has been constant learning process. Born and raised in a small town in Costa Rica, I developed a curiosity for technology early on, which led me to pursue a systems engineering and information technology degree at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica. Little did I know that this path would eventually lead me to the University of Nicosia’s MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency program. A decision that has profoundly impacted my personal and professional life.

My first encounter with Bitcoin was in 2014 during a university course. At the time, Bitcoin was often associated with illicit activities, and misconceptions overshadowed its potential. It wasn’t until 2017, after moving to the United States, that I took a serious interest in cryptocurrency. Like many, I initially saw Bitcoin as an investment opportunity, but the 2018 Bitcoin market crash was disappointing. However, it also sparked a curiosity about the technology behind it.

During the pandemic, I immersed myself in learning about blockchain technology and Bitcoin. I watched documentaries, read books like “Understanding Bitcoin” by Pedro Franco, and stumbled upon a video by Andreas Antonopoulos that changed everything. His explanation of the Bitcoin protocol was my “red pill” moment—I realized I had only scratched the surface of this revolutionary technology. The philosophical, financial, and technological aspects of blockchain fascinated me, and I knew I needed to dive deeper.

This realization led me to discover the University of Nicosia’s MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency program. The program’s comprehensive curriculum, which covers everything from the technical foundations of blockchain to its real-world applications, was exactly what I was looking for. The flexibility of online learning allowed me to balance my studies with my job. The program has been a game-changer. It deepened my understanding of Bitcoin and equipped me with the skills to apply this knowledge in practical, impactful ways. It also helped to extend my knowledge in economics and the financial sector, which I didn’t have before entering the program.

My experience with the University of Nicosia has been exceptional. The faculty’s expertise, the program’s structure, and the global community of like-minded peers have made it a truly enriching journey. Meeting people from around the world has been invaluable, and I still love meeting with them virtually. I highly recommend this program to anyone passionate about Bitcoin, blockchain, finance, and digital currency. It’s not just an education—it’s an opportunity to be part of a movement reshaping the future of technology and finance.

For me, Bitcoin represents more than just a technological innovation; it’s a tool for global equality and empowerment. Through the MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency program, I’ve gained the knowledge and confidence to help my family and friends navigate this evolving landscape. The University of Nicosia has given me the tools to turn my passion into purpose, and I am deeply grateful for that!
