MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency, Class of 2026
Cyprus
If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room.
My journey into blockchain and digital currency began not in a classroom but through countless hours of self-directed learning. Although my educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Business from Sheffield Hallam University, my real passion for financial markets and emerging technologies was cultivated independently through online courses, videos, and an insatiable curiosity about how money and value systems operate.
The moment that changed everything was when I first read the Bitcoin whitepaper. My mind was truly blown, not merely by the technological innovation, but by the profound philosophy underpinning decentralized finance. I was captivated by the vision of a financial system, free from intermediaries, where trust is embedded in code rather than institutions. Beyond the ideological appeal, I was equally fascinated by the investment mechanisms inherent to this space, particularly the concepts of staking and yielding. With a portion of my part-time income, I began investing, eager to participate in this nascent revolution.
I live by the principle that if you are the smartest person in the room, you are in the wrong room. At that stage of my journey, my self-taught knowledge often placed me in that uncomfortable position, and I knew I needed to find a better room, one filled with people who were technically more advanced than me, and could challenge my thinking.
This realisation led me to the University of Nicosia. I first discovered the MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency programme through LinkedIn, and, after a thorough research into the teaching staff and curriculum, I decided to participate in UNIC’s free MOOC on Blockchain and Digital Assets. Iattended its live sessions, and that’s when it became immediately clear that my passion aligned perfectly with University of Nicosia’s values.
The faculty possessed the technical depth and practical experience I was seeking, and I wanted a Master’s degree that would not only be recognised by future employers, but would also genuinely expand my knowledge through rigorous examinations and structured coursework. Since I was simultaneously building my business on the side, I needed a program that was offering flexibility without compromising on academic excellence.
The MSc programme is designed by some of the brightest minds in blockchain, finance, law, and computer science, expertly fused to create one of the most comprehensive educational programmes in the world. The assignments and quizzes were both interesting and instrumental in solidifying my understanding. The programme did not merely focus on cryptocurrency; it provided a broad, scholarly perspective on the history of money, the evolution of finance, and the technological forces that brought us to this pivotal moment.
My professional career has been profoundly impacted by the knowledge I gained. As the Founder of Trade Lab, a financial education academy, I apply the principles and technical skills acquired from this MSc programme on a daily basis. The toolset I developed has equipped me with far more than foundational knowledge, allowing me to confidently educate others and build a business rooted in the sound principles.
My entire journey at UNIC constitutes a transformative experience, while, undoubtedly, that MSc in Blockchain and Digital Currency programme transcends trends and provides a truly academic foundation for understanding the future of money.
I am fully grateful and blessed to have had the opportunity to follow my passion and study at the University of Nicosia.
