UNIC Athens Sports Scholarship
Tiered scholarships for student‑athletes who compete at the highest levels in their sport (including esports).
Scholarship Level
25% to 50% of tuition for the entire duration of the student’s programme, based on the tier awarded.
Eligibility
- Applicant must be admitted to and enrolled full‑time in an undergraduate programme at UNIC Athens.
- Must meet one of the tier criteria below (or an internationally equivalent achievement verified by the relevant National Governing Body (NGB) or International Federation (IF); for esports, by the game publisher’s official circuit or recognised federation).
- EU and non‑EU citizens are evaluated using identical performance criteria.
Tiers & Criteria
Gold — 50% of tuition
- Competed in the Olympic or Paralympic Games, or
- Won a medal at World or European Senior Championships within the last four (4) years.
Silver — 35% of tuition
- Current member of a Greek Senior National Team, or
- Top‑3 finisher at European U23 or Junior Championships, or
- Greek senior national record holder, or
- Top‑10 globally in a sanctioned esports title.
Bronze — 25% of tuition
- Top‑3 finisher at a recent Panhellenic Senior Championship, or
- Selected for the Greek U21 or U19 National Team, or
- MVP in a Greek A1 (top‑division) club league, or
- Top‑3 finisher in a recognised Greek esports league.
Notes on Equivalency
Where a criterion references Greek competitions or bodies, equivalent status in another country’s top division, national championships, or NGB‑verified national team will be considered.
Required Documentation
- Official letter or roster from the NGB/IF, national team selection notice, or club contract/roster (as applicable).
- Official result sheets or database links for championships, rankings, and records (publisher/run circuits for esports).
- Contact details for a coach or team manager for verification.
- For ongoing eligibility: annual competition plan and season calendar.
Renewal
- Maintain CPA ≥ 2.50/4.00 and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress each semester.
- Maintain athletic performance consistent with the awarded tier, reviewed annually with the Athletics Office (e.g., continued national team membership, top‑eight finish at nationals, sustained global ranking in esports, or equivalent).
- Injury/medical/pregnancy exception: one grace semester (extendable to one academic year upon documentation) with an approved return‑to‑play plan.
- Must maintain a clean disciplinary record and comply with anti‑doping/anti‑cheating rules (WADA Code / federation anti‑doping; publisher anti‑cheat for esports).
- Scholarship may be reinstated once CPA/SAP or performance standards are regained after a lapse.
Other
- Recipients must uphold academic integrity and athlete conduct standards. Confirmed doping, match‑fixing, or cheating violations result in immediate suspension and possible loss of the award.
