Reimagining History: Exploring Alternative Outcomes of a Key Historical Event
The UNIC Department of Languages and Literature invites high school students graduating in 2026 to take part in a writing competition on the topic: “Reimagining History: Exploring Alternative Outcomes of a Key Historical Event”.
Participants can select any historical event and explore how the world might have been different if that event had unfolded differently. They can choose between submitting a short creative story or an analytical essay of maximum 2000 words.
To recognize different types of submissions, we will award:
- Best Overall Entry – 30% scholarship
- Best Creative Story – 30% scholarship
- Best Analytical Essay – 30% scholarship
Scholarship Terms
- The scholarship is open to full-time new undergraduate students who will be commencing their studies in Fall26.
- In the event of securing two (2) or more scholarships, the scholarship with the highest tuition fee reduction rate applies.
- All applications must be submitted by 1 September 2026.
- Entries will only be considered valid if submitted through the online submission form provided below.
- Only original work is accepted and all entries will be checked for AI use.
- The scholarship can be renewed for each consecutive year provided the student achieves a CPA of 2.5/4.0
* The scholarship applies only to the tuition fees and excludes books and other fees, such as the application fee etc.
