Migrant Information Centres: E-Magazine
The University of Nicosia, in collaboration with the Cyprus University of Technology and CARDET implement the Project “Migrant Information Center (MIC)” (CY/2020/AMIF/S02.N02.1.3/4), Immigrant Service Centers (MiHUB). The Project is co-financed by the Asylum, Immigration and Integration Fund and the Republic of Cyprus and is implemented for the period 15 December 2020 – 14 June 2022.
In the first nine months of operation of the MIC more than 5,000 people throughout Cyprus have received services and more than 150 people have been hosted in the temporary accommodation shelter. Within the framework of the operation of the Project, counseling and psychological support services are provided to adults and children, professional guidance, facilitation of completing applications, Greek and English courses and participation of the served population in social and recreational activities organized in the local Centers.
An innovative action that was also developed is the publication of an electronic magazine, which aims to give a voice to the served population of MIC with the local community thus facilitating intercultural communication and mutual acquaintance between peoples. The magazine includes articles by clients that describe their personal immigration biography and their experiences in Cypriot society. The MiHUB e-magazine is hosted on the project’s website https://mihub-journal.eu/ and aspires to be a forum for exchange of views both for the project beneficiaries themselves and for the host society.
The MiHUB magazine can host articles and opinions from both students and academics of the University of Nicosia. For more information contact via email: [email protected]
