Maria Pechlivanidou - #IAMUNIC

My UNIC story started 4 years ago when I first came to Cyprus to study Human Biology. Honestly, I experienced the most challenging journey of my life. UNIC proved the right place for me to discover hidden competencies, develop further my communication and scientific skills, and unravel parts of myself that I never imagined!

Even though I initially found some of the courses to be difficult and demanding, with hard work, inspiration from my professors, and personal research, I transformed as a person, with observable progress in my grades and personal development. In addition, UNIC was a holistic experience, which equipped me with all necessary knowledge and skills, to be able to stand out not only as a confident biologist but also as a mature and independent individual. Indeed, I was later accepted into an MSc programme in Medical Genetics at the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.

I would especially like to thank my research project supervisors, who gave me the opportunity to explore clinical and academic subjects and be part of something bigger. Lastly, I would like to share with first-year students the benefits of being brave, of accepting challenges, chasing opportunities, and enjoying university life as much as possible! Thank you, UNIC!
