
Professor Petros Lois
Professor Petros Lois holds MSc and PhD degrees from UK Universities and he also holds the professional title of Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Prof. Lois is currently the Head of the Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance at the University of Nicosia, and the Director of the Master’s degree in Banking, Accounting and Finance (Joint degree with the Hellenic Open University). Prof. Lois is also a member of various professional bodies (IMA, ICMA, and IMarEST) and served as a member of the Board of Directors at the Cyprus Port Authority. His research interests include Accounting, Auditing, Financial Management, Working Capital Management and Shipping Business. His research work has been published in international conference proceedings, books and academic journals. He teaches courses in Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, and Financial Management at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as supervisor in graduate and doctoral theses. He is co-founder/co-editor of the academic journal “EuroMed Journal of Business” (Emerald publications) and co-author and editor of seven books. Prof. Lois has published more than 40 academic articles (on auditing, market analysis, financial analysis, taxation, financial crisis, money laundering, etc.) in reputable scientific journals, as well as his research work was presented at international conferences.
Prof. Lois has been a member of the examination board for the examinations for appointment of Accounting course instructors (Cyprus Ministry of Education, Secondary Public Schools) since 2017. He is also a member of the review/jury boards for the Cyprus Accounting Awards and Cyprus Tourism Awards. He served as a member of the Board of Directors at the Cyprus Ports Authority (2014-2019).
