Professor Petros Lapithis

Dr Petros Lapithis holds the position of Professor and coordinator of the Sustainable Design Unit at the Architecture Department, University of Nicosia, Cyprus. Lapithis holds a doctorate degree in Passive Solar Architecture, an M.Sc. in Architecture, and an M.Sc. in Environmental Design and Engineering. Lapithis is also the recipient of a Certificate in Education for Teachers of Architecture and a Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.  His research interests include sustainable design, issues of quality of life, energy conservation, bioclimatic architecture and solar energy design.  His research work has been supported by various research grants and has been published in International Conference Proceedings and Journals and other media.

Lapithis is the principal of P.A. Lapithis Architecture, founded in 1995, which gives emphasis to new and emerging technologies for buildings and specializes in energy conservation. Works with private and public clients on pilot projects, research programs and new product technology ventures. Consultant on refurbishment and renovation of old buildings and design of new. Gives emphasis to new and emerging technologies for buildings. Specialization in energy conservation and studies in taking advantage of natural resources as a source of energy.  Maintains a large library of relative documentation, open to the public.  Works with private and public clients on pilot projects, research programs and new product technology ventures.  Projects: Renovations, Restoration (Historical), New Constructions, Architectural Competitions, Plot Division, Landscape Design.

Dr Lapithis is also the Founder and President of the Pantheon Cultural Association (since 1999), a non-governmental organization that promotes and organises various cultural and artistic activities in Cyprus, involved in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Film and Music. First Non-Governmental Organization organizing for the first time Music and Film events for young Cypriot Artists.
