Adjunct Faculty
Dr. Constantinos Constantinou is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Pharmacy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), where his current research focuses on the synthetic development and study of cannabinoids. He holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry (Biological Chemistry) and an M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Cyprus, as well as a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from NKUA. His doctoral research centered on the development and study of novel photochemical organic transformations and their applications under the supervision of Prof. Christoforos Kokotos.
His research expertise lies in synthetic organic chemistry, the synthesis of biologically active molecules, photochemical reactions, photoredox catalysis, and sustainable chemical transformations. Dr. Constantinou has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in prestigious international scientific journals—including Chemistry – A European Journal, European Journal of Organic Chemistry, Synthesis, and Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry—several of which have been featured in ChemistryViews. He has also presented his work through oral and poster presentations at international and national conferences.
His academic experience includes teaching roles as a Laboratory Professor/Teaching Assistant in Organic and Analytical Chemistry at the University of Nicosia, NKUA, and the University of Cyprus. He was awarded a prestigious Ph.D. fellowship from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.) and participated in the ERASMUS+ mobility program. Additionally, he has actively served as the National Representative of Cyprus and a Science Team member at the European Young Chemists' Network (EYCN).
